Course Objectives:
The Six Sigma champion plays a key role in Six Sigma deployment. This course provides participants with an understanding of the champion’s role, Six Sigma business context, an introduction to key concepts and the Six Sigma methodology. The Six Sigma relationship with other continuous improvement strategies is explored and detailed consideration is given to project selection, scoping and execution.

  • Six Sigma in the business context
  • History of Six Sigma, modes of operation, types of methodology and concept of breakthrough improvement
  • Key concepts including customer satisfaction, Y=F(X), Six Sigma metrics, hidden factory, common cause and special cause, relationship with Cost of Poor Quality
  • Six Sigma fit with other continuous methodologies including 8D, ISO and the lean/Six Sigma partnership
  • DMAIC overview and core statistical concepts
  • Six Sigma roles and responsibilities
  • Project selection, scoping, change management and execution.

Trainers background:
The trainer for this course holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is also an MBA Graduate. He is a member of the Chartered Quality Institute and holds the Six Sigma Black-Belt qualification. He has also been working in the field of Process Improvement for over 18 years and was previously Quality Manager and Lean Manager for one of Northern Ireland's largest automotive production plants.
