IOSH - Temporary Works Coordinator
Course Objectives
This one-day course has been approved and Accredited by IOSH. It is designed specifically for those on construction sites who have responsibility for managing all forms and manner of temporary works. It has been designed to provide middle management, senior management and others who engage with contractors, with the confidence, skills and abilities to effectively facilitate and manage performance on site.
Contents
The course gives emphasis throughout to the importance of the 4 Cs: communication, co-ordination, cooperation and competency risk management, safety and business relations. Allowing the Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) to:
- Understand the need for and duties of a Temporary Works Co-ordinator
- Understand the role of others
- Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of BS5975 in respect of this role
Temporary works are usually safety and business-critical and require careful co-ordination. An acceptable way of achieving this is through the adoption of the management process outlined in BS5975 which introduces the Temporary Works Co-ordinator as a key figure.
Who should attend
This is an IOSH licensed course which is aimed at delegates that have a minimum qualification of SSSTS, SMSTS or appropriate degree.

Additional information
High risk can occur on small as well as larger sites hence understanding the essentials of good safety risk management, as outlined in BS5975, is relevant for projects of all sizes.

All participants who successfully complete this one day programme and pass the end of course Assessment will receive an IOSH Certificate.
Trainers background
Adrian Mottishaw has been hugely successful delivering safety management training since 2002. Adrian's background is almost exclusively in construction and he held the post of Health & Safety Trainer with Laing O'Rourke for a number of years from the mid 90s to early 2002. Adrian has been the lead trainer on a number of high profile construction projects including Millenium Stadium, Millenium Dome, Heathrow Terminal 5, Wembley Stadium and Hinckley Point Nuclear Power Station. His training style is engaging and highly participative and delegates will enjoy his inclusive and anecdotal means of delivery given his vast wealth of experience in the construction sector.
